For this remarkable property we are looking for an experienced General Manager, with local and Marriott knowledge and international experience.

Job summary
The General Manager is accountable and responsible for ensuring the operation meets the brand target customer needs, ensuring employee engagement, focuses on growing revenues and maximises financial performance. The General Manager will report to the Vice President Operations and will be the strategic business leader of the property operations. The hotel operates with a Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, People & Culture, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Revenue, Reservations and Maintenance team. You work directly with the hotels Director of Sales & Marketing, Operations Manager and department heads to develop and implement the hotel commercial and operations strategy.
Who are we looking for?
- GM with a people-oriented focus with 5+ years of progressive experience in hotel industry.
- Ideally international experience with branded properties but local background and/or language skills
- Proven business acumen with good financial and analytical skills (e.g., ability to analyse P&L statements, develop operating budgets, forecast)
- Is able to build great stakeholder relationships
- A working commercial understanding including revenue management, ecommerce, and sales.
- Has demonstrated the ability of building high performance operation teams.
- Strong communication, coaching, mentoring, negotiation, and mediation skills; can articulate compelling ideas
- Change management - must have the ability to support, manage and initiate change within the organisation, taking steps to remove barriers and or to accelerate its pace and implementation.
- Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrates ability to deliver results under difficult trading conditions and shows capability when faced with complexity and ambiguity.
- Experience in evaluating business trends, developing, and successfully implementing new operational programs and strategies that enhance business performance.
- Demonstrates success in evaluating risks and developing proactive strategies and plans to mitigate business issues.
- Successful track record of creating positive associate and customer relations.
- High proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English & Portuguese is required.
- Knowledge of the Marriott brand is preferred
Other contributing factors:
- The General Manager role requires flexibility in working hours in line with operational needs to include weekends, evenings and holidays
- This job requires minimal travel abroad
